Learn to play polo in Portland!
If you live in the Portland metro area and have ever wanted to try polo, don't miss your chance! A traditional sport that combines speed, teamwork, and horsemanship, polo is being taken up by new players of all ages and abilities. Come alone, or bring a friend. If you have a horse of your own, The Alcott Academy can help turn your horse into a polo pony. If you don't have a horse of your own, horses are available to rent.
What to expect during your first lesson:
Most private or semi-private lessons are one hour in length, and will start with a brief unmounted introduction to the polo swing. We will then get you on the horse, giving you an introduction to riding for polo. You will then have the opportunity to hit a polo ball while mounted! During the wet months, lessons will take place in our large indoor polo arena. Summer lessons will take place on our grass polo fields. Each lesson is tailored to you based on your previous experience and learning style, with safety in mind. It doesn't take long before you will be hooked on the sport!
The first lesson special for adults is $50 (a 50% discount!), and if you need to rent a horse for the lesson, it is an additional $25. Further discounts are available to students (full-time students who are under 26 years old), and for semi-private lessons.
